For years I wondered where my mother, one of the great non-cooks of all time, got the idea that Wonder Bread topped with ketchup and Velveeta, warmed under the broiler until the Velveeta was barely softened, could possibly be classified as "pizza".

Now I know.

No wonder Americans of the past were so much thinner... Who the hell would want to eat any of the shit they passed off as food?!

Oh, guuuhhaaaccchhh! That makes your mom's recipe sound like haute cuisine by comparison (reminds me of James Lileks' site, too).

It is rather Lilexic, isn't it? Harley Quinn hyenaholic, over at the House of Bad Fanfiction, is hung up on the ingredient "Pet Milk". I suspect she thinks it's something like Kitten Milk Replacer. And there was a time when people came up with ideas just as elaborate as the Tuna Pizza, precisely to keep them thinner. Witness these 1974 Weight Watchers recipe cards. I particularly like the Slender Quenchers. And the Fluffy Mackerel Pudding.
